New market for non-staple food in construction

On August 17 , the commencement ceremony for construction of Yiwu' s new market for non-staple foods ( condiment&subsidiary foods)was held at the lot south to the vegetable business area of Yiwu Agricultural Market . The project is planned to be completed at the second half year of 2008 and the market is to be put into use then . With the total area of 68,749 square meters and structure area of 32, 622 square meters, the new market is estimated to cost 280 million yuan . The new market will be an upgraded ver s i on of the present wholesale market for condiment&subsidiary food . At the same time, it will inject new economic growth point to Yiwu agricultural market which has already been listed among China agricultural leading enterprises .

According to the construction program, the 148, 412-square-meter market is a multi-storied frame structure: three stories above the ground and one story underground and five stories in some locali ties . The first and second floors are to be used for dealing . The total area comes to 60, 947 square meters, large enough for about 2000 standard stalls . The third floor includes factory direct sale center,fine product showing center and offices for big wholesalers . The fourth and fi fth stori es of the auxiliary buildings wi ll function as business centers . Tax burea, industrial&commercial bureau, banks,meeting rooms,market management office and property management office wi ll be found here .The basement and the roof will serve as parking lots and can accommodate as many as 2500 vehicles .
