Half of Zhejiang's overseas enterprise agencies are based in Yiwu

It is learned from Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation that there had beed 939 oversease enterprise agencies in Yiwu by the end of 2006 new overseas enterprise agencies in Yiwu with an increase of 57% over the same period of the previous year.Most foreign agencies in Yiwu were set up by businessmen from Middle East countries, covering over 60% of the total number. Recently many more European and American enterprises have established their agencies in Yiwu,including 26 in 2006,an increase of 31% over the same period of the previous year.
In recent years the number of overseas enterprise agencies in Yiwu has been increasing tremendously.From 2003 to 2006 the number of overseas enterprise agencies in Yiwu rose from 154 to 939. Besides, some famous agencies home and abroad ---the UNHCR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs set up their commodity information & purchasing centers in Yiwu.In addition, more than 20 multinational retail groups set up permanent purchasing agencies in Yiwu market.
