Trademark design in Yiwu embarks on internationalization

Recently，the trademark “一星ONE STAR” of Zhejiang Star Tools Co，Ltd . has been entitled the “China Well-known Trademark ”. And “ONE STAR” is right the English translation of its Chinese trademark“一星”. Nowadays，more and more Yiwu enterprises like Zhejiang Star Tools Co，Ltd . start to use English names in their trademarks . A recent survey made by a trademark agency in Zhejiang shows that a large number of Zhejiang enterprises are still using trademarks with the tradi tional Chinese characters plus Pinyin . This makes it hard for Chinese trademarks to be well accepted interna tionally . Meanwhile，some enterprises lost their competitiveness in international market for their trademarks had al ready been regi stered by enterprises in other countries .
The situation has already been noticed by many Yiwu enterprises . Now the trademarks of some Yiwu enterprises have changed a lot in design and have absorbed some internationalized elements，especially in advertising . For example，
Langsha Hosiery，Truelove Textile，Berkam Clothing and Jinxiu Clothing have paid a lot of attention to the internationalization of their trademark design . Besides ，some famous Yiwu enterprises who are urgent in exploring international market also published their internationalized trademark images timely .
According to a manager in charge of the business of overseas trademark register in a local trademark agency，over 60% of Yiwu enterprises except those foreign trade-oriented enterprises still use Chinese Pinyin trademarks and the recognition
of their trademarks ranges only within the country .
A department manager of Zhejiang Star Tools Co . ，Ltd . who is in charge of foreign trade business says that the internationalized trademark“ONE STAR”helps much in promoting their brand，and with an internationalized trademark，they will get more orders from abroad .
As introduced by an official of Yiwu Municipal Administration of Industry and Commerce，the trademark internationalization is a crucial subject for implementation of globalization strategy of enterprises .

Yiwu Sourcing Fair welcomes businessmen home and abroad

On March 20 it was learned from China Commodity City Exhibition Company that the booths are ready for the 2007 Yiwu Sourcing Fair which will open together with the Hardware and Electrical Appliances Fair to welcome businessmen home and
abroad on April 21 . In the meanwhile the 99th China Suitcases & Bags，Footwear & Headgear Fair will be held，which is between the first and second exhibitions of the Canton Fair in spring .
According to the staff of China Commodity Ci ty Exh i b i t ion Company ，more than 400 enterprises have registered in this fair till March 16 such as Shandong Qindao Electrical Appliance Co . ，Ltd，Zhejiang Yin’er Cleaning Products Co . ，Ltd，Yiwu Qifu Arts & Crafts Co . ，Ltd ，Jinhua Changgong Cleaning Products Co . ，Ltd，Dongyang Wanda Leather Products Co . ，Ltd ，Taizhou Chongcheng Plastic Development Co . ，Ltd which come from 18 provinces or cities of the country，mainly in Jiangsu，Fujian，Guangdong，Shanghai and Zhejiang . And there are 600 booths in the fair，among which about 100 wi ll be used for the exhibition of suitcases，bags，shoes and hats .The exhibiting goods can be put in several categories such as household articles，household decoration，clothes textile，suitcases，bags，shoes and hats . Although the exhibition scale is much the same as that of last year，the level of the participants is greatly improved and the division of exhibition areas is much clearer than before .This year about 20 enterprises own famous brands over the municipal level，among which two have the
title of China Well-known Trademark and half a dozen have provincial famous trademarks .
The central exhibition hall is used as super fine products exhibition， and Hall 4 and Hall 6 are used as household ware，shoes & hats and clothes textile exhibitions . Over 10 booths have been specially decorated，which covers 15% of the total number.

Change of Gardens

From deserted grass lands on both riversides to today’s 18-kilometer-long riverside greenbelt
The motherly river of Yiwu is decorated with two 18.8-kilometer-long greenbelts on both riversides, which are formed by green lawn, lush trees, blooming flowers perched with joyfully singing birds and colorful butterfly, vivid sculptures and nicely shaped small hills which are silhouetted in the clean river water. This is a beautiful painting depicting southern Chinese hills and waters.

Riverside Greenbelts started to be constructed in April, 1996, which were planed to be composed of fifteen parks. So far the total investment has surpassed 400 million yuan. A series of projects have been completed, along with the south and north banks of Yiwu River. They are Riverside Green Land, Yinhua Garden and Palm Tree Island and Fangcao Grass Land, Ji-water Spring Dawn, Wuyue Osmanthus Garden, Xiangxue Spring-heralding Garden, Yin’an Warm-grass Garden, Diaoyuji Park, Jiangbin Theme Park, Sports and Tourism Resting Garden, Commercial Culture garden, Birds and Flowers World and Yiwu Paradise.

Collection of Riverside Greenbelt Parks

Commercial Culture Park---it is located on the north bank of Yiwu River and between Dongjiang Bridge and Huangyuan Bridge. This is a tourist resting park, integrating people’s enjoyment of leisure, recreation, and health-keeping exercises. With Yiwu River being the theme of the design for the entire park, the park is designed by adopting the modern, concise and forthright horticulture designing tactics, which has greatly increased the parks’ vividness and diversity by building a square, using pavement decorations, setting up sculptures and interesting scenes.

Xiangxue Spring-heralding Garden

Xiangxue Spring-heralding Garden---it is positioned on the south bank of Yiwu River, in a stage between Nanmen Bridge and Zhongjiang Bridge. The name of this garden is taken after the meaning of a poem that reads: “The beauty does not compete with spring; it only heralds the coming of spring.” Within the entire scenic place in the garden, it is mainly planted with the trees of pine, bamboo and plums backed by camphor tree, osmanthus and metachlamydea.

Yinhua Garden, Palm Tree Island and Fangcao Grass Land ---they are on the south bank of Yiwu River, in a part between Binwang Bridge and Dongjiang Bridge. This park is human-oriented, which combines the classic horticultural design theory with that of the European styles, and enables the green lands’ environment to well satisfy the people’s needs by having Nianxi Brook passing in between.

Ji-water Spring Dawn

Ji-water Spring Dawn---it is on the south bank of Yiwu River, in a part between Dongjiang Bridge and Huangyuan Bridge. It is bounded on the south by the new Jinagdong Residential Quarters and faces the cultural park on the other bank across the river. This park is built by adopting the modern horticulture design method which integrates all the scenic landscapes like square, carved sculptures, pavilions, flower gallery, dock and other scenic sites with special purposes. The whole park can be divided into four big scenic zones as Sculpture Square, Flower Band, Spring Dawn Square and Petal Pavilion Square.

Sports & Tourism Resting Garden

Sports & Tourism Resting Garden---it is on the north bank of Yiwu River, in a part between Dongjiang Bridge and Binwang Bridge. It is an open-style riverside park and built with contemporary horticulture, which enables the garden becoming an urban green land in which masses can enjoy relaxation, recreation and physical exercises. Therefore the entire garden is designed to be two long narrow green bands, with small-stone-paved site, open dancing pool and flower beds among them, hence meeting the requirements of people’s morning exercises and dancing.

Jiangbin Theme Park

Jiangbin Theme Park is on the north side of Yiwu River, between Binwang Bridge and Zongze Bridge. It faces on the north, Jiangbin North Road and covers an area of 20.3 hectares. With a total investment of 50 million yuan, it was completed in October 2004. Jiangbin Theme Park lays emphasis on Yiwu’s local culture, which reflects the epochal spirit of Yiwu people who dare to pioneer the first. Taking green as the theme, the building of park pays great attention to ecology, being close to people’s life and people’s health and delightfulness. Known as a major theme leisure space, the park includes fountain square, water-dropping flower brook, curved lawn square, lake-water-viewing zone, children’s activity center and sunshine bathing site.

Planning--- the history of Wushang

With a long history, Yiwu was named Wushang County in the 25th of King Yingzheng of Qin Dynasty (B.C.222), and renamed Yiwu in A.D.624. In 1988, Yiwu County was transformed into Yiwu City.

The finished construction area of Yiwu County covered 2.8 square kilometers in 1984. During the past 20 years, Yiwu County has become a world-famous international trade city from a county-level city in the middle of Zhejiang province, since it made a reasonable and scientific goal for the city by four-time overall city planning. Its urban area has already extended to 52 square kilometers.

Choucheng, the county town of Yiwu, was just a very small village, according to the county annals of Jiaqing period, and the development was very slow until the liberation of China. And then it developed itself into a city of more than 200 hectares in the early 1980s.

Purchasing in Yiwu market is different from in Canton Fair.In Yiwu Market:
1. Small quantity is accepted, you can mix lots of items (from different suppliers) in one container.
2. Almost all the suppliers in the market can't speak English.
3. The suppliers have not the license of IMP AND EXP. and did not know the operation of exporting.
4. The price is FOB Yiwu, the suppliers only with responsibility for deliverying the goods to Yiwu warehouse.

Therefore, when you will purchase in Yiwu market, it is most important to find a good agent at first. It must be reliable, experienced, with complete, excellent and efficient service.

The first time, you must go to the market, be familiar with the item, style and their price. The agent will send employee accompany you on the market.

According to Yiwu Administration Bureau for Industry and Commerce,4 trademarks in Yiwu have been approved as China Well-known Trademarks by the authority of jurisdication since March of China Well-known trademarks in Yiwu has reached 9.
The 9 China Well-known Trademarks appraised by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce are Langsha,Neoglory Jewelry with Logo,Mengna with pinyin,Fennasi with pinyin,Shang-pin-xian,Yiwu Ao-ge Fashion Co.,Ltd.and other three trademarks.
The number of Yiwu famous trademarks has been growing year after year,accounting for one third the total in Jinhua prefecture.In the commercial area of Zhejiang province there are 57 Zhejiang famous trademarks contributed by Yiwu,ranking third among the county-level cities in Zhejiang. In the area of Jinhua City,there are 128 Jinhua famous trademarks up to now,of which 38 were approved in 2006.

YWAQS's testing ability upgraded to ILAC standard

History of Yiwu

Yiwu became a county in 2220 BC.It was named "County of Yiwu" in 624 AD.
Many famous poets and scholars have been inspired by the natural landscape around Yiwu:

Chinese Traditional Festival----Yuan xiao

Besides entertainment and beautiful lanterns，another important part of the Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao Festival is eating small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour . We call these balls Yuanxiao or Tangyuan . Obviously，they get the name from the festival itself . It is said that the custom of eating Yuanxiao originated during the Eastern Jin Dynasty in the fourth century，then became popular during the Tang and Song periods .
The fillings inside the dumplings or Yuaxiao are either sweet or salty . Sweet fillings are made of sugar，Walnuts，sesame，osmanthus flowers，rose petals，sweetened tangerine peel，bean paste，or jujube paste .A single ingredient or any
combination can be used as the filling .The salty variety is filled with minced meat，vegetables or a mixture .
The way to make Yuanxiao also varies between northern and southern China .The usual method followed in southern provinces is to shape the dough of rice flour into balls，make a hole，insert the filling，then close the hole and smooth out the dumpling by rolling it between your hands. In North China，sweet or nonmeat stuffing is the usual ingredient .The fillings are pressed into hardened cores，dipped lightly in water and rolled in a flat basket containing dry glutinous rice flour .A layer of the flour sticks to the filling，which is then again dipped in water and rolled a second time in the rice flour . And so it goes，like rolling a snowball，until the dumpling is the desired size .
The custom of eating Yuanxiao dumplings remains .This tradition encourages both old and new stores to promote their Yuanxiao products . They all try their bestto improve the taste and quality of the dumplings to attract more customers .
